Graaff-Reinet Hardware & Building Supplies is a family owned business with its roots set deep in the community of Graaff-Reinet. Our Hardware store functions from the same premises since the late 1940’s, and with the recently acquired adjoining property is set to soon become the biggest independent hardware store in the Greater Karoo area. Rooted, Born and raised in the Greater Karoo area, our focus is future based, and built on the prosperous growth of our Community, youth and country.
Currently run by the second generation of Stannard Brothers, we pride ourselves in the joint knowledge of more than 150 years of hardware experience. A lot of this knowledge dealing with the special needs and requirements of the hundreds of heritage houses in Graaff-Reinet and surrounding areas. Dudley Stannard, was closely involved with the substantial renovations done during the 1980’s for the Towns Bicentennial festivities.
Our employees are family, our clients our friends, and with the backing of the Essential Hardware group we are able to bring you quality, service and pricing you would expect from big city merchants. The Owners
Jacques and Alfred Stannard – The two brothers have actively managed the business since 2011 when Dudley retired. A complementary team that aims to see their father’s legacy live on. We are currently halfway through an extensive renovation and expansion project that will see the business grow to never before seen heights.

In a clock you see the hands, and the beautiful face, never knowing what it takes to have that simple display of accuracy, calm and beauty. These Four ladies are the gears, grease and timekeepers of what and who we are.
